Personal Statement

Dr. Gary Brewton earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Brewton is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and has earned the HIV Expert™ credential from the American Academy of HIV Medicine. His primary clinical interests are adult primary care, HIV/AIDS treatment, HIV prevention/Truvada PrEP, hepatitis treatment, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, internal medicine, sexually transmitted diseases and wellness.

In practice since 1981, Dr. Brewton treats adults 18 years and older and speaks Spanish. He performs EKGs, exercise stress testing, physicals, spirometry and pulmonary function testing.
Dr. Brewton works with his patients to develop wholeness and integrity of body, mind and spirit, emphasizing preventative care, patient involvement and judicious use of both medication and advanced procedures.

He has authored and been investigator for numerous published articles and holds a patent for methods and compositions for the treatment of psoriasis. He is also a co-founder of the Montrose Clinic, now Legacy Community Health Services.

A resident of the Museum District, Dr. Brewton spends his non-practice time supporting and promoting the arts and area museums and works with organizations that provide outreach to troubled youth. He is active at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church and the Orthodox Catholic Church.
